You Shall Not Pass, Part Two
The Dungeon: #2
Mask Off
I don’t think it spoils anything to reveal the first three strips tell an interrelated story. It’s considered poor form to prefer one child to another, but I think the second strip is funnier than the first, and the third funnier yet. But they only work because they’re building atop the previous one.
Also: the idea that there are level-specific disguises specifically meant for this sort of predicament is a juicy bit of world-building I can’t get enough of. Congratulating ourselves on our own ingenuity is akin to smelling your own farts, but enthusiasm is the secret sauce of creativity. If we don’t love what we’re creating, why should you?
The Dungeon is a place where the characters are very aware of what would be meta knowledge during an actual game—levels, classes, hit points, etc. This isn’t exactly revolutionary—hello, LitRPG genre—but I’ve not seen it done quite like this.
I’m sure it has. The internet is a huge, varied place, with many dark niches where unseemly interests accrue. In my ignorance, I can pretend we’ve discovered something revolutionary. And in believing that, perhaps we might.
