The Dungeon: #10
We’re asking the hard questions
The inspiration for this strip is a South Park bit we referenced during a D&D session and couldn’t stop giggling about. It’s admittedly juvenile, but I take the long view on this kind of thing; like the Tri-Lambs, penis humor is open to people of all races and creeds, and sexual orientations.
I sometimes wonder, fleetingly, if all other D&D tables are like this. Does pretending to be elf wizards naturally lower the bar on how one behaves in polite society? Do we use crude humor to deflect our embarrassment at playing make-belief as adults? Or is this just a natural outcome of a game that routinely involves things like 10-foot poles and immovable rods?
Said another way: Are dick jokes baked directly into the pizza pie, or are they sprinkled liberally on as toppings?
I’ll leave that for the philosophers to decide. I just know D&D makes me laugh, and probably 50% of those laughs are phallic in nature. The questions posed by today’s strip seem to suggest a potential product for a captive audience. In the core D&D rules, guidelines are provided for height, weight, and age. We can only infer the other measurables.
