A Journey of 1000 Steps
The Dungeon: #4
“What do they call you? Wheels?”
The wheelchair in the strip is canonical to one of our games. That it found a second life here is only natural.
Shawn’s character—it’s somehow always Shawn’s character—was also a wizard in this game. He fell into a dimensional portal/trap/thingie. When he reemerged, he’d aged 50 years. Given he was human, this was significant. He went in a young man, came out drooling on himself.
Naturally, we greeted this shocking development with laughter and then hijinks.
We outfit him with a wheelchair.
It’s not that he couldn’t walk. It was just funnier if we pushed him around everywhere. We took him to a carnival and tied balloons to the chair, and found him a snack soft enough for his aged gums.
This age-up happened relatively early in the campaign. The wizard was a doddering old fool far longer than he wasn’t.
He met his end in equally hilarious fashion. A tale for another time.
